Gidea Park - 90/6

Paul Tibbs Reports:
Tibbenham once again fooled the opposition skipper into calling incorrectly at the toss and elected to bat on an overcast day at H&TCC. On a pitch with very little bounce, despite getting off to a decent start H&TCC were only able to total 89 with just Olly Smudge (26), BJ (17) and Captain Tibbenham (18) making double figures. The less said about our Saturday First XI captain's cameo with the bat the better. Credit to our opponents however, who held some outstanding catches. In reply, H&TCC made some early inroads into our opponents’ batting line up and had them struggling at 52-5 with Diggers and new recruit Azaz Khalil both picking up 2 wickets apiece. Unfortunately we could finish them off and we fell to a four wicket defeat.

Result:Won
Scores:Eastonians – 147AO (I.Harrison 3-38)
H&TCC – 148/8 (L.Smith 53, A.Soilleux 37*)

Ollie Smith reports:
Missing our chief tosser Paul Tibbenham the run of not loosing the toss all season was broken and Hadleigh were asked to bowl first. The 10 men still feeling the effects from the jungle rave sported an array of garlands to brighten up a miserable overcast day. On the bowling from Grovo and Ratty got us off to a good start having the visitors 50-4! Ben Read settled in to his rhythm and bowled a tidy 8 overs picking up a wicket alongside Soilleux and myself. Kish came on and bowled a Beamer first ball and then cleaned bowled the guy next ball and the following over took the final wicket with a full toss LBW! Eastonians 147AO.

Jon Snelling opened the batting after turning up 1/2 an hour late. Rumours are that he had an odd amount of peronis (23) so wasn’t feeling to clever! Anyway a big loopy half volley was enough for Jon to inside edge on to his stumps first ball of our innings! Luke batted well for 53 until he got bowled by a pee roller. Hadleigh lost regular wickets but managed to limp over the line winning by 2 wickets. Soilleux and Ratty putting on 40 for the 9th wicket partnership. A game played in good spirits...

Game:ESL
Result:Lost
Scores:H&TCC - 183AO (B.Jacobs 75, P.Tibbenham 30)
Ilford Wanderers - 186/2

Paul Tibbs reports:
Captain and "Top tosser" Paul Tibbs won the toss and elected to bat on a hot afternoon at H&TCC with his squad of 9 against Ilford Town, who were top of the league having played 8 and won all of them. After the early loss of Mike Tibbs and Jonny Snelling, who retired hurt after being hit in the chest by a beamer, BJ (75) and Paul Tibbs (30) put on 90 odd for the second wicket. The chaps did well to last their 40 overs to get 183-8 with the last wicket falling from the final ball of the innings with the returning Jonny Snelling making a good 21 and Jarred Klein 16. In the field against a very good side, and having only 9 fielders, the boys worked hard but lost by 8 wickets in the 23rd over. Everyone acquitted themselves with the bat and ball very well, and the highlight would be Tommy Byrne picking up the wicket of former Essex player Mervyn Westfield!

Result:Lost
Scores:H&TCC – 142/9 (L.Smith 41, P.Tibbenham 33)
Rainham – 146/6

Rainham won the toss and respected that Hadleigh always have to bat first on a Sunday. The Smith brothers got off to a flier and were 80 for no loss off of 8 overs. Unfortunately both departed with no addition to the score and only P.Tibbenham could support the good start as Hadleigh plateaued to 142/9 off the 20 overs. The game was close run with economic bowling from H.Zaidi, I.Harrision and R.Vapiwala however Rainham got over the line with 10 balls to spare.
